Superfast speed ultra broadband internet

A new impetus in the world of internet is the superfast broadband internet referred to as Ultra-Broadband.

A group of researchers from University College London has achieved a record speed of data transfer by fiber-optic cable. They have been capable to transfer 178.08 terabits per second on a 40 km long fiber cable. 222 Ultra HD Blu-ray discs can be transferred at a speed of 178.08 terabits per second.

It has not been possible to go near this speed for so long. Cables mounted in the United States and Japan provide speeds of up to 60 terabits per second. The cost in the back of this speed is 300 million dollars.

It is unsure whether or not the ultra-broadband speed internet can be used in data centers, houses and businesses. Soon it will not be possible to use this speed internet commercially.
